"I believe in educating not medicating." - Denise Acton N.D., M.S., M.H.,CNHP

The scientific study of colors, patterns, and structures of the round, pigmented membrane surrounding the pupil of the eye, called the iris, and having muscles that adjust the size of the pupil to regulate the amount of light entering the eye, is known as Iridology.  Nearly 150 years ago in Budapest, Dr. Ignatz Von Peczely, M.D., created the first organ mapping charts correlating attributes and workings of the iris to the body's ability to maintain health and avoid potential illness.

Later, a prominent physician, Dr. Bernard Jensen, who was instrumental in Iridology advancements including integrating herbal and other nutrition elements with iris analysis, introduced the theory and practice of Iridology to North America.

In addition to his many works covering interrelated topics on colon cleansing, nutrition and Iridology, I studied (at Clayton College of Natural Health) the manuals and course work written by the late Dr. Jensen.  I have also been professionally trained and have received certification in the official techniques of the International Iridology Practitioners Association (IIPA).

Briefly, by examining density of fibers, patterns, hues, structures and the degrees of lightness and darkness provided by the iris, potential early signs of imbalances in the body can be revealed, such as:

  •  Strength or weakness
  •  Irritation or degeneration in the tissues or organs
  •  Structural defects, latent toxic settlements, inherent weaknesses, and the activity of  the organs of the body
  •  Presence and the source of acids, catarrh, prolapsus, anemia, nerve tensions, glandular disorders and congestion.
